Near-future military science fiction…

…sounds like something you’d write behind kevlar curtains, bathed in the glow of multiple video feeds from the distributed denial of humanity that we’re still referring to as “news”.

Fortunately, my television didn’t work when I started this project, and I don’t have the bandwidth to watch the network pundits nod sagely or flap their perfectly tanned hands while the world murders itself in twenty second segments at nine and eleven.

Burnout is a work in progress, based loosely on my experience serving in the U.S. Army, the massive stream of weirdness pouring through the portal, and the eminently cultured atrocity-parade of the BBC World Service.

This work is fairly vulgar, so consider yourself warned.
